In short:

  • Load capacity of up to 14kg
  • Integrated WiFi
  • GoTo function with 212,000 objects
  • Compact and lightweight altazimuthal mount

iOptron's new HAZ31 Strain Wave is an alt-azimuthal mount with full GoTo functionality and other innovative features. It is compact and lightweight at only 3.7kg, but can still carry loads of up to 14kg. This makes it a wonderful travel mount for visual use. iOptron's popular Go2Nova® technology also provides this mount with a database of 212,000 objects, as well as ASCOM compatibility and, thanks to the integrated WiFi, the ability to control it via tablet or smartphone using SkySafari, Raspberry Pi or INDI. The dual Vixen/Losmandy head and its sturdy construction enables even medium-sized telescopes or large binoculars to be mounted and used. The prism clamp’s multi-functional socket can be set up either laterally or horizontally (above) on the mount so that large binoculars and telescopes with longer focal lengths can be securely attached. This means that a counterweight shaft with counterweights is not necessarily required!

The built-in “Electronic Friction Brake” control mechanism stops the mount from moving as soon as the electricity supply is unexpectedly interrupted. After the mount has been switched on, it automatically calibrates itself and detects its own position. A power supply and a robust (but lightweight!) carry case are also included. An optional tripod and tripod extension tube are sold separately as the HAZ31 can fit on any sturdy photography tripod with a suitable load capacity. However, we recommend using the iOptron “40mm CF tripod” (Product no. 77370).
